DRAINAGE (TIDE)(FLAP) GATES
F-50 Heavy Duty Drainage Gate
- Cast Steel Design
- Automatic Operation
- 50 Foot Seating Head Maximum
- Model F-50F - Flatback for Wall Mounting
- Model F-50SB - Spigotback for Mounting to Corrugated Pipe
- Model F-50C for Mounting to Concrete Pipe
Model F-50 Gates are designed for use in drainage, flood control, and
similar projects with seating heads up to 50 foot and where slamming,
tidal action, ice or debris may necessitate a gate with high resistance
to damage from impact. A minimum 2 1/2º seating angle assures that
gates will not "hang open" even if pipe sags slightly or mounting
is not on a perfectly vertical plane. This gate opens with minimum differential
head, but ensures positive closing. The frame and cover are commercial
quality cast steel. Links are fabricated from heavy duty angle or steel
flat bar with bronze hinge bushings. Hinge pins, washers and keepers are
stainless steel. The non-jamming design eliminates the need for additional
bars or lugs. The lifting eye is cast as an intefral part of the cover
(flap). Seating surfaces are machined steel, with bronze or stainless
steel seat faces available as options. A neoprene dovetail seat face,
recessed in the cover to minimize damage from debris, is an additional
option.
Optional Items
Special paint, coatings, and galvanizing per ASTM A-123 Bronze, stainless
steel and neoprene cushion seat faces Galvanized or stainless steel anchor
bolts
General
The flap gate shall be designed to allow free outflow and prevent backflow
for maximum seating heads of 50 feet. Gates shall be Waterman Model F-50
or equal.
Construction
The frame shall be cast steel of flatback or spigot back design (or other
specified design configuration as required)with seating surface inclined
from vertical at a minimum of 2 1/2º to assure positive closure.
The cast steel cover, with domed construction to withstand maximum seating
head, shall have machined seats, and be attached to the frame in such
a manner as to allow proper seating and full opening of cover. Safety
bar or built in stops shall be provided to prevent the cover from rotating
sufficiently to become wedged in the open position. The linkage system
shall be of the double pivoted type, attached to fixed, bronze bushed,
pivot points on cover and frame. Hinge links shall be structural steel,
of the heavy duty type, which along with assembly hardware shall be galvanized.
Finish
Cast steel frame and cover shall be coated with manufacturer's standard
shopcoat paint. Galvanized steel does not require further finish.
Materials
Frame and Cover - Cast Steel per ASTM A-27. Hinge Link - Structural Steel
per ASTM A-36, Galvanized per ASTM A-123. Assembly Hardware - Steel per
ASTM A-307, Galvanized per ASTM A-123. Bronze Bushings - Commercial Bronze.
